What do I do after a wedding (or any other) shoot?

Hello.

Some clients had asked, “what do you do after a wedding shoot?” Or precisely, what is my workflow after a wedding shoot? Le me share with you….

I Gather
Gather all photos from all photographers assigned during the assignment right away after the end of the assignment i.e. within one hour after the assignment ends.

I Backup & Organize
I triple Backup these photos to HDD A, HDD B & HDD C.

HDD A is a working HDD where major work on the images will be saved here.
HDD B is a backup HDD stored at our office.
HDD C is a backup HDD stored at a save location only known to me.

This is the most important steps after the shoot. I backup my files 3 times over so that our client can be sure that if anything happens to their images, I have backups to backup that backup.

I Cooperate
10 days after the event with accordance to the Terms & Conditions, Client will get all the photos burned on a DVD, resized to 5R and images are straight from the camera (no editing). Selected images will be uploaded to my FB page (www.wowphoto.my) and my Blog (www.hafizismail.com). Client may wish to purchase the rights of their photos so that we will not upload these photos online. Client will select 80 pieces of images they want to include in the Fine Art Wedding Book while we will retain the artistic feel to the book by selecting extra 20 images that will contribute to the story line. Mock up layout (proofs) of the Wedding Book will be emailed to the client 1.5 months after the event.

My priority is Client’s satisfaction. I include the Client in choosing the mandatory images that are to be included in their Fine Art Wedding Book. Of course, I will take in control the artistic feel, direction and layout of the images inside the Book. I will guide my Client in the selecting the best images of their wedding celebration.

Sign Off
Any changes to the images in the proof is allowed (with accordance to Terms & Conditions) – based on the 80 images selected by the client. If client approves mock up, printing will commence and the Fine Art Book will be ready in 2 weeks’ time

If my Client is satisfied with the layout of the images, I will then proceed with editing of the images, and the printing of the book.

I Deliver
Deliver Fine Art Wedding Book

I Reorganize
Update content on HDD C with updated HDD A content. Delete HDD B content. After 6 months, content HDD C will be deleted except for edited images from the assignment with accordance to the Terms & Conditions.

YES, I will delete the rest of the images (apart from the edited ones) 6 months the delivery of the book. Client may wish to purchase another copy of these images before deletion. With this purchase, the Client will be given all raw High Resolution copy of the images, High Resolution copy of the edited images and all Web-resized edited images. The Client will also purchase a joint copyright of the images with me allowing me to use some of the images for printing, marketing and portfolio purposes.
