Greetings,
Mr. Azmi, the owner of Simply Spice Restaurant called me up last month and wanted to do a photography session on the food at his restaurant. I knew Mr. Azmi earlier this year when I was on assignment with my friend, Sheila on his restaurant.
After so many postponements and delays, we’d finally got to do it yesterday.
I brought one portable studio light (300W) with softbox and couple of Nikon SB800s for the lighting. For the box itself, I used a home made product box made of 4 luminous (white) “cardboard” (Sorry. I don’t know the proper name for the 4 boards.) I bought them at Popular Bookstore.
I shot using Nikkor 35-105mm Macro with fixed setting through out the shoot – ISO 200 and Shutter 1/125s. I only open up or close down the aperture if the scene is under or over exposed.
Enough of technicalities. Let’s drool over the yummylicious photos! (I forgot most of the dishes name!)
Click on the photos for a larger view.

The best homemade Beef Pie I’d ever tasted! Fresh and filling!

The Lamb Shank – served with Mashed Potatoes and greens.

Love Boat – Sausage wrapped with Chicken – Served with French Fries and greens. Spicy; Malaysian Style.

The signature dish – Nasi Tumpang Ayam Panggang Bersenggek
3 hours of shooting time. We got to taste the food itself and I can vouch for its uniqueness and tastiness.
